God in all of His glory is something that we desire to see and to be a part of. With much anticipation and expectation, we as His dear children, look forward to the day when we will see Him in the fullness of His glory. There is His heavenly glory which shall be revealed to us when we get to heaven and then there’s His glory that He shows right here on earth.
God existed before all of creation. “He hath made the earth by His power, He hath established the world by His wisdom, and hath stretched out the heavens by His discretion. When He uttereth His voice, there is a multitude of waters in the heavens, and He causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth; He maketh lightnings with rain, and bringeth forth the wind out of his treasures.” (Jeremiah 10: 12-13) Everything was done precisely and to specific details. The sun to rule by day and the moon and stars to rule by night, which He counts and calls by name.
God’s character is that of Supreme Greatness. He is Almighty and the Great “I AM”. He is holy, righteous, gracious, kind, merciful, compassionate and slow to anger. He is: Omnipotent - all powerful, Omniscent - knowing all things, and Omnipresent - present everywhere. He is our Outstanding Father with zero flaws.
God’s greatness can be seen throughout t the entire Bible from start to finish. Hanging the earth on nothing (reference Job 26: 7) and creating man and woman out of the dust are pretty incredible. When His thunderous voice speaks it commands attention to where it is sent. He rattles the earth with earthquakes. He sends thunder and lightning with a spectacular light show across the sky that can be seen for miles. The ocean has a decree that it dare not pass until God commands it to. The heavens drop down rain, snow and hail with such beauty. The gentle breeze of the wind is from God’s treasures but it also can destroy cities at a single command.
God will not share His glory with no one. Not even an idol or a god (small “g”). When the Ark of God was brought into the house of Dagon ( a small "g"), the statue of Dagon was found on its face the next day. On the second day the head and both palms were cut off irrefutably indicating that it was no match for our God and that even idols will bow down and be destroyed before the Lord God (reference Samuel 5: 1-4). God's express intention in this incident was to show His awesome power. The Bible explicitly, clearly and repeatedly tells of God’s mighty power.
Oftentimes God used man to show just how powerful and in charge He is. Upon conversion we must lay a foundation of sound doctrine that will show exactly who God is. Oneness with God was the plan from the beginning. A life associated with sin became the downfall of man. God had to show just who was in charge. His power became more prevalent as obedience occurred. Peace, prosperity, stability and love is what God provided in the Garden of Eden and continues even today. When He calls us, He also convicts and carves us to His liking and standard of living. Man would completely take over and try to dominate even God if he could so God has to establish His authority by His mighty power. There are two sides of the power of God: The good side and the destructive side. I guess it all depends on which side of the fence you are on to determine if it is good or bad (destructive).
“The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is full of majesty.” (Psalm 29: 4) In His temple everyone speaks of His glory.
God used angels to exhibit His mighty power. “For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had.” (John 5: 4) When Daniel was in the lion’s den an angel shut the lions’ mouths (reference Daniel 6). An angel came to strengthen Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane (reference Luke 22: 43). When the apostles were put in prison an angel came to the rescue. “But the angel of the Lord by night opened the prison doors, and brought them forth, and said, Go, stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life.” (Acts 5: 19-20)
God assigns angels. “For He shall give His angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.” (Psalm 91: 11) and “The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear Him, and delivereth them.” (Psalm 34: 7) Angels are sent to earth. “Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.” (Hebrews 13: 2) So beware that you could be looking an angel straight in the eyes and not know it.
And then there’s that fox, the devil that we have to contend with but God has given us the power to resist him. Devils tremble at the name of Jesus (reference James 2: 19). The devil even tempted our Lord and Savior in Luke 4: 13. And there are many devils but they all fear and respect Jesus. “And devils also came out of many, crying out, and saying, Thou art Christ the Son of God. And He rebuking them suffered them not to speak: for they knew that He was Christ.” (Luke 4: 41)
In the life of Abraham and Sarah God displayed His power in so many ways. God appeared unto Abraham, talked to him , gave him favor, made a covenant with him saying that he and Sara would be blessed to have a son, Isaac, even at the age of 90 and 100 (reference Genesis 17: 1-22). An angel talked with Abraham out of heaven when he had to sacrifice his son Isaac, calling the place Jehovah Jireh: My Provider (reference Genesis 22: 14). Not only did God open Sarah’s womb but Hannah’s as well (reference 1 Samuel 1). “Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for Me?” (Jeremiah 32: 27)
When Korah and his company gathered themselves together against Moses and Aaron, it provoked the Lord that He opened up the ground under them and it swallowed them up alive and closed upon them (reference Numbers 16).
When the children of Israel were in the desert with no water Moses struck the rock twice and water came out abundantly for them and their animals. Joshua spoke to God and asked for the sun and moon to stay still until they avenged themselves upon their enemies and it was granted them. “And there was no day like that before it or after it, that the LORD hearkened unto the voice of a man: for the LORD fought for Israel.” (Joshua 10: 14)
The prophet Elisha’s bones had power even in death. “And it came to pass, as they were burying a man, that, behold, they spied a band of men; and they cast the man into the sepulchre of Elisha: and when the man was let down, and touched the bones of Elisha, he revived, and stood up on his feet.” (2 Kings 13: 21)
God’s glorious power raised the dead back to life, including children (reference 1 Kings 17, 2 Kings 4 and Mark 5).
Jesus raised a widow’s son. “Now when He came nigh to the gate of the city, behold, there was a dead man carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow: and much people of the city was with her. And when the Lord saw her, He had compassion on her, and said unto her, Weep not. And He came and touched the bier: and they that bare him stood still. And He said, Young man, I say unto thee, Arise. And he that was dead sat up, and began to speak. And He delivered him to his mother. And there came a fear on all: and they glorified God, saying, That a great prophet is risen up among us; and, That God hath visited His people.” (Luke 7: 12-16)
God even used animals. In Numbers 22 a donkey not only talked but he also saw an angel that was about to kill him and his master Balaam if they continued on their path.
In 1 Kings 17 God commanded ravens to bring Elijah bread and meat, mornings and evenings.
God heals disease. Naaman the leper was healed when he was told to go dip himself 7 times in the river Jordan (reference 2 Kings 5).
Hezekiah was sick unto death. “In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz came unto him, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Set thine house in order: for thou shalt die, and not live. Then Hezekiah turned his face toward the wall, and prayed unto the LORD, And said, Remember now, O LORD, I beseech Thee, how I have walked before Thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore. Then came the word of the LORD to Isaiah, saying, Go, and say to Hezekiah, Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will add unto thy days fifteen years. And I will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria: and I will defend this city. And this shall be a sign unto thee from the LORD, that the LORD will do this thing that He hath spoken; Behold, I will bring again the shadow of the degrees, which is gone down in the sun dial of Ahaz, ten degrees backward. So the sun returned ten degrees, by which degrees it was gone down.” (Isaiah 38: 1-8)
In Luke 17: 12-19 as Jesus was walking He met with 10 lepers who asked Him to have mercy on them. Jesus healed all 10 but only 1 came back to Him and with a loud voice glorified God and fell down on his face at Jesus’ feet, giving Him thanks. “And He said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.” (Luke 17: 19)
God’s majestic beauty can be seen in all of His creation: flowers, trees, rocks, natural wonders, water, waterfalls, animals, butterflies, mountains, stars, moon, sun and in colors. There is no limit in God because with Him all things are possible.
“And He taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all.“ (Luke 4: 15)
“Forasmuch as there is none like unto Thee, O LORD; Thou art great, and Thy name is great in might.“ (Jeremiah 10: 6)
” For the Son of man shall come in the glory of His Father with His angels; and then He shall reward every man according to his works.” (Matthew 16: 27)
