TURBULENT TIMES

Updated: Sep 19, 2020

As a result of the current global health issues surrounding the Coronavirus, I think it is painfully evident that the world-wide atmosphere of stress and anxiety has risen to a crisis level. Tempers are short, patience is limited and, in some cases, even common courtesy is being severely challenged. But we as children of the most high God must remember that not only have these type of events happened before but they are also indicators of the times and fulfilment of biblical prophecy.

Jesus told His disciples “But when ye shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified: for these things must first come to pass; but the end is not by and by. Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.”

These days are just the beginning of sorrows because increasingly iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold and men's hearts shall fail them for fear. But you, child of God, rejoice, because in your patience you possess your soul and whoever shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

We are in the end times but the day and hour of the end is known only to God. Our job, as Jesus says, is to “take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. Know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand. Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.” Because, glory to God, eventually we shall see the Jesus coming in a cloud with power and great glory. And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.

In the meantime, don’t panic. Allow the spiritual fruit of temperance to settle you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. Use the wisdom and common sense God gave you. Don’t tempt God, trust God. Take care of the temples (your body) you have been blessed with. Eat right, hydrate, get rest, wash your hands, cover your cough, avoid close contact or large crowds if possible and other sensible precautions. And please don’t be offended if someone doesn’t want to shake hands. Be kind, be courteous, be respectful.

And pray. Pray for all people. Believe that because you have made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; there shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling for He shall give His angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.

May the love, peace and grace of God be with us all during these turbulent times and let your faith propel you into His presence where there is fullness of joy.
